Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before using our services. By booking a lesson, you agree to these conditions.
1. Acceptance of Terms
Guiding Light Academy of Driving (“GLAD”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) provides professional driving instruction and related services to students (“Student”, “User”).
By accessing our website, booking lessons, or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
2. Bookings & Payments
- All driving lessons must be booked in advance through the online student portal or by contacting our office.
- Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your lesson slot.
- We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and Interac e-Transfer.
- Lesson packages are valid for one (1) year from the date of purchase unless otherwise specified.
- Prices are subject to change without prior notice, however confirmed bookings will be honored at the booked rate.
3. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
24-Hour Notice Requirement
Students must provide at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule a confirmed driving lesson.
Rescheduling requests must be made through the student profile/dashboard or by contacting GLAD.
Rescheduling Rules
- Rescheduling of a confirmed session is allowed only if requested at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
- Each confirmed session may be rescheduled only once.
- A rescheduled session cannot be changed again.
Late Cancellation Policy
- No cancellation or rescheduling is permitted within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.
- If a student cancels within 24 hours of the lesson, the session will be considered used.
- No refund, credit, or replacement session will be provided for cancellations within 24 hours.
No-Show Policy
Students who fail to attend a scheduled session will forfeit the lesson credit.
Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be considered a No-Show, and the lesson will be counted as used.
4. Instructor or School Cancellation
If a lesson must be cancelled by GLAD or the instructor due to circumstances beyond our control including but not limited to:
- Severe weather conditions
- Instructor illness or emergency
- Instructor vehicle breakdown
- Unsafe road conditions
- Unexpected or unforeseen circumstances
5. Pick-Up & Drop-Off Policy
Students who select a package with pick-up service will be picked up from their provided location.
Meeting Point (No Pick-Up Packages)
Near Bayshore Bus Terminal
Close to the Bayshore Shopping Centre parking area.
Students must arrive at the meeting location on time.
6. Student Responsibilities
To participate in driving lessons, students must:
- 1Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License (G1 or G2) and carry it during every lesson.
- 2Be in a fit condition to drive (free from alcohol, drugs, or extreme fatigue).
- 3Wear appropriate footwear (no flip-flops or high heels).
- 4Follow the instructor’s directions and safety instructions at all times.
If the instructor determines that a student is not in a safe condition to drive, the lesson may be cancelled immediately and no refund will be issued.
7. Lesson Time & Waiting Policy
Students must arrive on time for their scheduled lesson.
15 Minute Grace Period
The instructor will wait up to 15 minutes from the scheduled start time.
If the student does not arrive within this time, the session will be considered a No-Show, and the lesson will be counted as used.
8. Dashcam Recording Policy
For safety, training quality, and legal protection, all instructor vehicles used by Guiding Light Academy of Driving (GLAD) are equipped with dash cameras.
Dashcam recordings may be used for:
- Safety and training review
- Incident investigation
- Dispute resolution
- Legal/Insurance matters
Note: Footage will not be shared with students or third parties except when required for legal, insurance, or law-enforcement purposes.
9. Road Test Disclaimer
Guiding Light Academy of Driving prepares students for road tests but cannot guarantee that a student will pass any road test.
The final decision is made solely by the DriveTest examiner.
Road test results depend on several factors including:
- Student driving performance
- Ability to follow traffic rules
- Traffic conditions
- Examiner judgment
GLAD instructors are not responsible for road test failures or examiner scoring decisions.
11. Vehicle Safety
Students must follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor at all times.
12. Liability
While instructor vehicles are insured and equipped with safety systems, Guiding Light Academy of Driving is not liable for any fines, tickets, or penalties received by a student during a lesson if caused by:
- Student negligence
- Violation of traffic laws
- Failure to follow instructor instructions
Students are responsible for their driving actions during lessons.
13. Bad Weather Policy
Driving lessons may proceed in light rain or normal weather conditions. However, lessons may be rescheduled if conditions are unsafe, such as:
In such cases, lessons will be rescheduled free of charge.
14. Policy Updates
Guiding Light Academy of Driving reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated policies will be posted on the official website.
